Broad Haven

Anchor Guest House is on the seafront in the small Pembrokeshire community of Broad Haven, where you can find a village shop and post office – and places to eat. When the tide is out you can walk along the beach to the next door village of Little Haven.

As well as several cafes and inns, we have:

  • Londis Store and Post Office
  • Haven Sports – you can buy or hire wet suits or surf gear
  • Haven Beach Shop – which also sells fishing tackle and bait
  • Jones Coastal Taxis – a friendly and reliable local taxi service

We also have our own Italian restaurant on site – Sunshine Italian.

Pembrokeshire is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Wales. The Pembrokeshire Coast is the only National Park designated mainly for its coastline, and features a 186 mile Coast Path walk.

Skomer Island

If you would like to take a day trip to Skomer Island, it’s a short drive along the coast road from Broad Haven south to Marloes and then to the National Trust carpark at Martin’s Haven. From there, you can catch the Dale Princess which runs several trips a day. It’s about a 20 minute boat trip each way.

However, you do need to get to Martin’s Haven early – particularly in school holidays – as there can be queues for the boat. Even on a fine day, it’s best to take some warm clothing in case of sea mist. You’ll be on the island for several hours before the boat returns to pick you up in the afternoon.

For further details on Skomer day trips, and to check the dates the island is open, please visit the Wildlife Trust web site.

St Davids

St Davids is well known for its cathedral and the adjacent Bishop’s Palace ruins. Although St David’s has ‘city’ status, it is the size of a large village. The Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre often has paintings by Graham Sutherland on display.  If you’d like to take a boat trip to nearby Ramsey Island you can contact Thousand Islands Expeditions on 01437 721721.

Narberth is a thriving village with excellent shops and cafes. Nearby are Oakwood Theme Park and, next door, the Bluestone Holiday village with its Blue Lagoon Water Park which has an indoor wave machine, a rapids river ride and two enclosed flume rides that carry you outside and then back into the main swimming area at pool level.

Haverfordwest is the County Town. It has a modern swimming pool and gym, a library, health facilities and a range of shops including several large supermarkets.
